In A Letter to My Ex, the musical, Composer and vocalist Be Steadwell tells stories of love, loss and intimacy. Following the 2018 release of her album “Queer Love Songs”, Steadwell brings her album to life through theater. A Letter to My Ex is a collage of music, movement and film, narrating one character’s journey through the year following a breakup.

The piece is presented through a series of letters to an ex. Each letter coupled with a song. Each moment, a reflection on the process of grieving the loss of love and learning to move on. A letter to my ex explores self love, addiction, twerking, sex, life and death through the lens of a heartbroken queer black woman.

Our first showing of ALTME was a magical glowy masterpiece! We had a great time at Joe’s Movement Emporium Mount Rainier MD in February and we’re excited to share this piece with the world. Our next production will go up in at Mills college, Oakland CA in april 2019.
